Filament

As far as I can see blue-black has taken over, left the sea,
As far as I can tell no shadows been unturned
As far as I can smoke these cigarettes becoming me
And since I've burned this ash-gray filament's what's left of me I've learned

As far as it is now away from me a glimpse or two,
As far as yesterday reminds me, so unkind it is
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not so much each passing hour
and since I've got nothing to do I'll just indulge in this

And if tomorrow brings it all right to my bed
Equipped with little metal tools to get inside my head
Let it be part of all I am this ash-gray filament
So small compared to all that's still to come in my intent

And if tomorrow bring the guilt I can't resist
Crawled up inside of me through any orifice it wished
And if it turns away with just one touch and goes to sleep
Then when it wakes to find me empty, let it find me gone instead
