ABSENT REFLECTIONS

I'd write a play but I'm not Shakespeare
I'd make our story dull
I'd make a speech but I don't think like Hamlet,
I don't contemplate your skull
I'd pray to you if you were heaven,
Wish away my strife
I do no crime but time is very lonely, I complicate your life

Leave me, nothing inside but pride
But keep me, locked inside your mind
Hook me, flopping 'round like a fish
But guide me, blindly through the mist
Blindly through the mist

I'd meet your gaze but I am frightened,
Leave my eyes behind
I'd map your skin but touching is forbidden, I penetrate your mind

I look in the mirror, you're here but forgotten
