La demolicin del susodicho hotel fue muy criticada por razones econmicas, y quizs sentimentales. Un clsico bolero dominicano, "Luna Sobre El Jaragua", le rinde homenaje romntico al hotel. En el "Rquiem", como se puede ver, se hacen mltiples alusiones a ese bolero, comenzando por el ttulo y terminando al final de la cancin con un verso del mismo, cantado por su intrprete original, el entonces ya anciano Rafael Coln.
