I was standing on the corner, waiting for the light to change
When I felt him tap my shoulder right before I heard him say
Hey Mr I was wondering could you spare a couple bucks
For a cold and hungry brother a little down on his luck,

I handed him and 5 and said I'd like to give you more
But I'm thinking that a hot meal isn't what you want it for

But I don't do drugs and it's been months since I've had a drink
