I remember the way you smiled and cried

It was a cold night, no light, snow was falling
I remember calling your name with no response,
And so I rode to your house just so I could say "Hi"
It was raining and cold, and dark outside,
But something was wrong I saw the smoke at first
My heart stopped for a second then I saw the burst of flame
The cop cars and the fire trucks alongside the house
That me and you spent so much time together
I started screaming, I don't know what I said
The cops held me back saying no one was dead
I saw your parents alone I looked for your blonde hair
And your pretty face, but all I saw was flames,
And then I saw the stretcher They were running up the house
Into the ambulance I couldn't see or make out who it was,
But I knew it was you I just knew
I fought and I pushed and I finally got through to you

I held your hand I told you,
"Baby come back Don't leave me now I'm not ready for that"
I think it took all your strength but you smiled at me and said softly,
"Taylor, don't wait for me" Your eyes looked into mine,
Near shattered my mind, then just screamed as the paramedics tried to revive you
But I knew those were the last words you would ever speak
Cause your hand holding mine got weak
And past that all I know is that I cursed so loud
The heavens and hell had to close to shut me out
They said you were dead I tried to kiss you to bring you back but you were cold, your eyes shut forever in tack
I had to say so much, now her pretty face is fading away
So young and full of memories of lost days
I couldn't let go They had to force me to do so,
So I saw her face one more time I remember it forever ago
