300 Moons

When it's real late at night
Sometimes
I can hear my own heart beat
And if I think about it much
It can keep me up all night
Worrying about myself
Wondering when it's going to stop
Then I realize of course
I don't want it to stop

I've watched 300 moons go by
But I still don't know why I'm here
I've watched 300 moons go by
And I don't think I know anything at all

I've caught myself in the past
Loafing
In an armchair
Carefully watching the ceiling
The walls, the doors, the floor
Searching for some sign of life
Amongst the furniture
Soon
I'll hear my heart beat again
And realize I'm real life

I've watched 300 moons go by
But I still don't know why I'm here
I've watched 300 moons go by
And I don't think I know anything at all
